Made in the United States... with Child Labor

Hundreds of thousands of children in the United States are toiling in our fields, being given night shifts in factories, and working too many hours in fast food outlets.

Child labor is not just back – it never went away.

The Kailash Satyarthi Children’s Foundation US is committed to fighting this injustice in the United States and around the world. Visit our new campaign site to find out more.

Justice for Africa's Children

Building on the Laureates and Leaders for Children Joint Statement to the Sixth EU-AU Summit, the Justice for Africa’s Children’ report finds massive international and national injustices have contributed to rise in child labourers, children out of school, and child hunger across Africa.

Fighting the rise in child labor

“I am angry to say that 1 out of 5 children in Africa are working as child laborers, whereas in the rest of the world, 1 out of 10 children are working. When we first held this conference, the number of child laborers in Africa and the number now is the same – between 1997 and now. And in the meantime, the wealth of the world has doubled. You cannot blame Africa. I am angry to say this is happening because of a discriminatory world order.”

At the Fifth Global Conference on the Elimination of Child Labor, the Kailash Satyarthi Children’s Foundation US supported a large delegation of child labor survivors and activists, led by Nobel Peace Laureate Kailash Satyarthi.

Watch The Price of Free

Kailash Satyarthi left a career as an electrical engineer and started Bachpan Bachao Andolan (Save the Childhood Movement) to rescue children from slavery. Learn about the story of our founder, told through the stories of rescued child laborers, in the award-winning documentary, The Price of Free.

We work for a world where every child is free, safe, healthy, and educated.
