The upper house of the Indian Parliament has just passed the much awaited Child Labour Amendment Bill. If the Lok Sabha also clears this bill, we will not see an end to child labour any time soon.

Our Vision

A world free of violence against children -- a child friendly world where all children are safe, healthy and enrolled in a quality school.

Our Mission

A CHILD-FRIENDLY WORLD

TO CREATE, IMPLEMENT, AND ADVOCATE CHILD-FRIENDLY POLICIES THAT ENSURE THE HOLISTIC DEVELOPMENT AND EMPOWERMENT OF CHILDREN WORLDWIDE.

Protect Children from Trafficking, Slavery & Child Marriages

Governments, businesses, and civil society must do more to protect children from the worst forms of abuse such as child trafficking, child slavery, and child marriages. Ensuring that children aren’t harmed is the critical first step toward a child-friendly world.

Child Labor Elimination & Child Empowerment

The only way to permanently eliminate child labor and break the cycle of poverty is for every child to receive a quality education. An education cannot be considered a quality education unless it emphasizes children’s rights and empowerment.

About Us

The Kailash Satyarthi Children’s Foundation is the global umbrella for the Kailash Satyarthi Children’s Foundation-India based in New Delhi and the Kailash Satyarthi Children’s Foundation-U.S. based in Washington, D.C. The three pillars of KSCF are Outreach & Engagement, Direct Action, and Policy & Training. While the pillars inform each other, KSCF-India specializes in direct action and KSCF-US focuses on outreach and engagement. Policy and training is the domain of both entities. Kailash Satyarthi serves as the Global Chairperson. The Kailash Satyarthi Children’s Foundation’s Global Advisory Board is comprised of strategic partners, leaders from the private, public, and NGO sectors, and subject matter experts in a variety of areas.

KSCF believes the only way to solve the problem of child exploitation is through a holistic, multi-dimensional approach of prevention, protection and policy prioritization. The strategic work areas of the Foundation are:

  • Prevention: awareness building and outreach

  • Protection: raid, rescue and rehabilitation work

  • Policy Prioritization: share lessons learned, encourage child-oriented development policies at the local community, national and international level and engage the private sector

Kailash's Story

Nobel Peace Laureate (2014) Kailash Satyarthi - Ending violence against children globally

Mr Satyarthi has been a tireless advocate of children’s rights for over three decades. He and the grassroot movement founded by him, Bachpan Bachao Andolan (Save the Childhood Movement), have liberated more than 84,000 children from exploitation and developed a successful model for their education and rehabilitation. Mr Satyarthi has been the architect of the single largest civil society network for the most exploited children, the Global March Against Child Labour, whose mobilization of unions, civil society and most importantly, children, led to the adoption of ILO Convention 182 on the worst forms of child labour in 1999.  He is also the founding president of the Global Campaign for Education, an exemplar civil society movement working to end the global education crisis and GoodWeave International for raising consumer awareness and positive action in the carpet industry. In 2014, he was jointly awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for “struggle against the suppression of children and young people and for the right of all children to education.”

Our Children

Whose children are they who stitch footballs, yet have never played with one? They are our children. Whose children are they who mine stones and minerals? They are our children. Whose children are they who harvest cocoa, yet do not know the taste of a chocolate? They are all our children.

~ Kailash Satyarthi, 2014 Nobel Peace Prize acceptance speech

Since 1981, Kailash Satyarthi has been rescuing and rehabilitating children from slavery and advocating for their protection. The organizations he has founded and/or chaired to carry out this work include Bachpan Bachao Andolan, Bal Ashram Trust, the South Asian Coalition on Child Servitude, the International Center on Child Labor and Education, RUGMARK (now GoodWeave), the Global Campaign for Education, and The Kailash Satyarthi Children’s Foundation.
